Golf Club Fitting
Our custom golf club fittings include the use of launch monitors. We use either the camera-based Vector launch monitor or dopplar radar-based Zelocity launch monitor to get all the necessary ball flight data, spin rates, launch angles, ball speed, etc. We also video tape golf swings and review them with our SwingView Pro digital swing analysis software. The P3Pro Simulator is another great tool we have to measure club performance data such as club speed, face angle at impact, swing path angle, tempo, etc.
Custom Golf Clubs
Our custom golf club shop is outfitted with all the necessary tools to build a truly state-of-the-art set of custom golf clubs. Perfect Fit Golf has been frequency matching clubs and shafts since 1997 and currently employs 2 different frequency machines to offer zone-profiling of the shafts stiffness every 5″ from butt to tip. This is the best way to match the stiffness of a golf shaft as some designs are inherently stiffer in the butt or tip section and traditional frequency matching methods may not detect this. We also spine align all of our shafts in custom built sets.
In addition to frequency matching we also have the ability to match the balance of our custom clubs for Moment of Inertia known as MOI. This method of balancing is preferred over swingweighting as MOI balanced sets take the same effort to swing the long irons as the short irons. Swingweighting is slightly flawed as a balancing technique as it causes the long irons to play “heavier” and thus need more effort to swing them. Obviously this is counterproductive as long irons are already difficult to hit in the first place.
Golf Club Repair
Most golf club repairs at Perfect Fit Golf can be turned around in 24 hours. For regripping we stock over 35 models of grips from Golf Pride, Lamkin and Winn. Reshafting with True Temper and Nippon steel shafts or graphite shafts from Matrix Composites, UST, Aldila and Fujikura can usually be done overnight. Lofts and lies can be checked and adjusted by appointment. Simply call the golf shop to set it up.

Herman Williams Golf is synonymous with personal, professional service and nearly unlimited support. Herman is a long time fixture in Raleigh NC area golf, providing the golfer with every service imaginable short of an 18 hole championship golf course. He is a class A PGA professional, has tremendous teaching credentials, has a love and deep knowledge of the game and his intent is share his passion with as many people as possible.
I met Herman about 1999(more on that to come) and I received personal range attention, video and studio work which helped my game, then had a fitting and custom clubs built by Herman using quality components and careful assembly to give a truly custom set of clubs. Until I moved away from Raleigh in 2007 I regularly visited Herman and Golf Academy practice area and training center and received updated lessons and advice. He offers major club repair and brand merchandise at retail from balls to clubs to bags etc. and provides his customized fitting and club building using state of the art equipment designed to fit his one of a kind custom services. Herman always had time in his busy schedule and never seems to forget a customer. As evidence of his dedication to his client base, after several years away from Raleigh, I started playing his custom made clubs again and found they were better than several sets of OEM off the rack stuff but I wanted an upgrade. I scheduled a local fitting on August 17,2011 and since I did not remember my measurements, I emailed Herman cold and in less than 12 hours, he had retrieved the info and forwarded it to me and then evaluated the current measurements which were amazingly close considering the tools and art of 1999 compared to 2011. He was fully encouraging of my choice and the potential for improvement, all without any benefit to him except to honor his commitment to golf and what I refer to as “his golf following”. I’m a fan, an admirer and proud to know a this gentleman golfer and dedicated professional. Don’t go big box when you can go custom full service and be supported by a committed man. Thanks Herman !!!
Thanks Doc. All I can say is I’m honored to have had a chance to help you and humbled by your compliments. Good luck with your golf. – Herman
Mr. Willaims
I recently discovered your golf tips on youtube. I’ve been enjoying golf for 30 years and like most folks I have a great passion and respect for the game. I’ve worked hard at improving my game ever since I began playing as a young man and probably will until my end. That being said, you should know that your YouTube video clip about the grip was the first time I’ve heard anyone explain it that clearly. It made perfect sense. Anyway, I do have a question. My golf clubs are about 15 years old and they were fitted to my swing at that time. However, after all these years I’m certain that my swing has changed. Should I have my clubs refitted again? Thank you.
thanks for watching my videos. We generally find the major specifications like length, loft and lie angle will still be correct unless you’ve become significantly taller or shorter. This also assumes the first fitting was a good one.
Shaft flex may be an issue after this much time, and it’s possible any graphite shafts are beginning to fatigue. You’ve aged and so has the equipment … sometimes a checkup is a good idea. If you’re searching for distance newer technology may help. – Herman
